Deputy Foreign Minister to attend High-level UN Conference on South-South Cooperation

VGP – Permanent Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son will lead a Vietnamese delegation to attend the High-level UN Conference on South-South Cooperation in Buenos Aires, Argentina from March 20-23.

FM Spokesperson Le Thi Thu Hang announced some remarkable diplomatic activities which will be held in the time ahead at a press conference in Ha Noi on March 14. 

With the theme "Role of South-South cooperation and the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development: challenges and opportunities", the meeting will review the 40 years of the implementation of Buenos Aires Action Plan on promotion of technical cooperation between developing nations and propose South-South Cooperation in the upcoming time.  

Mr. Son will also join the fourth political consultation in Chile and work with the Argentinean Ministry of Foreign Affairs from March 15-24. 

The Vietnamese delegation’s participation in the conference affirms the nation’s commitments to South-South Cooperation. 

As scheduled, Ms. Son will make a speech at the conference and attend discussions at seminars and dialogues as well as meet heads of delegations joining the event. 

A Vietnamese delegation lead by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Quoc Dung will join a meeting at the 26th ASEAN-New Zealand Dialogue for Senior Officials from ASEAN and New Zealand in Wellington, New Zealand from March 18-19. 

At the Dialogue, the related sides will be discussing measures to boost ASEAN-New Zealand Strategic Partnership in the upcoming time, including the ASEAN-New Zealand action strategic plan 2020-2025 and the 45th founding anniversary of ASEAN-New Zealand ties by 2020.  

On March 18, Deputy Minister Dung will co-chair the 11th Viet Nam-New Zealand political consultation. 

Within the framework of the meeting, the two sides will review developments in Viet Nam-New Zealand ties and concentrate on exchanging ways to strengthen cooperation heading to Strategic Partnership as well as discuss international and regional issues of common concerns.
