Defense minister promoted to rank of General

VGP – Senior Lieutenant General Phan Van Giang, Politburo member and Minister of National Defense, has been promoted to the rank of General.

Meanwhile Lieutenant General Vu Hai San, Deputy Minister of National Defense was promoted to the rank of Senior Lieutenant General.

State President Nguyen Xuan Phuc handed over the promotion decisions Phan and Vu in a ceremony in Ha Noi on July 12.

Minister Phan, born in 1960, was elected as Minister of Defense at the 11th session of the 14th National Assembly in April, 2021. 

Earlier in July, 2020, Prime Minister signed a decision to appoint Vu Hai San, member of the Party Central Committee, member of the Central Military Commission, and Commander of Military Zone 3 as Deputy Minister of National Defense.
