Anh was also dismissed from the position as the Secretary of the Da Nang Party Committee undertaken since October 6, 2015.

The disciplinary actions against Anh were made on the 3rd working day of the ongoing 6th plenum of the 12th Party Central Committee on Friday.

His actions caused division and affected the solidarity and unity in the Standing Board of the Party Committee, according to the report released by the CPVCC’s Inspection Commission last September.

Anh’s use of inappropriate certifications and dishonesty in declaration also violated the code of ethics for Party members, the report says.

The Inspection Commission also condemned him for “not being conscious of setting an example” when receiving two cars and two houses as “gifts” from private enterprises, creating public outrage.

Meanwhile, Vice Secretary of the Da Nang Party Committee and Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Huynh Duc Tho also shouldered blame for violations committed by the Party Committee’s Standing Board.

The same day, the Party Central Committee also discussed and elected Mr. Phan Dinh Trac, Head of the CPVCC Commission for Internal Affairs and Nguyen Xuan Thang, Director of the Ho Chi Minh Academy of Politics and Chairman of the CPVCC Theoretical Council as the two new members of the CPVCC Secretariat. The pair are currently members of the CPVCC.

Earlier, speaking at the Government’s monthly press conference on October 3, Minister-Chairman of the Government Office Mai Tien Dung, who is also Government Spokesman, said disciplining the leaders of Da Nang will not affect hosting the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week scheduled from November 6-11 in the city./.
