During the working session with chairman of the special committee on Korea's New Southern Policy Kim Hyun-chul, Mr. Dung asserted that Viet Nam always attaches importance to the strategic cooperative partnership with the RoK, suggesting the two sides promote their bilateral relationship in key sectors in the upcoming time.

To achieve the two-way trade value of US$100 billion by 2020, Mr. Dung proposed the RoK actively speed up the quarantine process of Vietnamese agricultural products, enhance imports of Viet Nam’s pork and fresh farm products, assist Vietnamese products in joining the Korean enterprises’ global value chain as well as help the country develop the auxiliary industry to reduce the trade deficit with the RoK.

The Vietnamese leader suggested the RoK’s Government and economic associations encourage their firms to consider expanding investment in Viet Nam in the auxiliary industry, mechanics-manufacturing, automobiles, clean and renewable energy, urban cities, modern agriculture and highways.

The Vietnamese Government creates the most favorable conditions in line with the country’s laws for RoK investors, he asserted.

He urged the RoK to continue providing development aid and giving preferential treatment for the two sides’ enterprises to invest in areas of huge demands, including energy and joining in public-private partnership projects in Viet Nam.

Mr. Kim Hyun Chul confirmed that Viet Nam is the center in the RoK’s new southern policy, adding that the ministries and agencies will continue launching perceptions reached by their senior leaders to promote the bilateral relationship more intensively.

In the upcoming time, the RoK will increase imports from Viet Nam and actively enhance technology transfer for Vietnamese enterprises and encourage more RoK firms to invest in infrastructure development in the country, he added.

He asked the Committee to coordinate with other RoK ministries and agencies to boost cooperation between the two sides in such projects as the establishment of an e-government model for the Government Office and Official Development Assistance (ODA) program on innovation and start-up.

Mr. Chang Byung Gyu affirmed to accelerate cooperation between the two nations in the context of the fourth industrial revolution and consider proposals from Viet Nam and be willing to cooperate with the Vietnamese side to organize forums for their youngsters on start-up and the fourth industrial revolution.
