DPM welcomes Swedish company to join Mobifone equitization

Deputy PM Vuong Dinh Hue welcomes Swedish Ambassador to Viet Nam

At the meeting, the Swedish Ambassador hailed the advancements in the Viet Nam-Sweden relations.

The Swedish Embassy is actively working with the Viet Nam Chamber of Commerce and Industry to organize Viet Nam-Sweden Business Summit next year as part of a series of activities marking the 50th founding anniversary of diplomatic ties, said the diplomat.

The Ambassador highlighted that in 2017 the two sides exchanged a number of ministerial-level delegations and the two-way trade value doubled that of 2016.

Many Swedish enterprises’ have been long-term investors in Viet Nam and more are coming in such areas as retail sales and particularly telecommunications, he added.

Meanwhile, Chairman of Comvik International Viet Nam Zaman briefed about the company’s successful cooperation with the Viet Nam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) over the past decade.

Comvik is willing to support the Vietnamese Government in terms of technology and capital in the process of equitizing the Viet Nam Mobile Telecom Services One Member Limited Liability Company (Mobifone).

Meanwhile, Deputy PM Hue highlighted the progress of economic and trade linkages between Viet Nam and Sweden.

He welcomed Comvik to pour more investment in Viet Nam and take part in the equitization process of Mobifone.

The Government has directed the Ministry of Information and Communications and Mobifone to prepare to hold initial public offering in 2019, he said.

The Vietnamese leader expected the Swedish Ambassador to call more Swedish investors to invest in Viet Nam, asserting that the Government will create best conditions and continue improving business environment landscape./.
