The Deputy PM made that statement while receiving a delegation of the Subcommittee on East Asia, the Pacific and International Cybersecurity Policy of the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee in Ha Noi on May 28.

At the meeting, the two sides highly appraised active developments in the two nations’ relationship, including PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s official visit to the U.S. and U.S. President Donald Trump’s State visit to Viet Nam and attend the APEC High-Level Week.

They welcomed the two nations’ enhancement of delegation exchanges between their parliaments, making contribution to strengthening mutual knowledge and cooperation in all fields.

U.S. Senator Cory Gardner expressed his delight at his first visit to Viet Nam and hailed the nation’s development over the recent years, committing to sharing experience in legislation to promote Viet Nam-U.S. Comprehensive Partnership in the upcoming time.

The U.S. is playing a crucial role in maintaining peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region, he said, suggesting the two sides boost cooperation at regional mechanisms, including consolidating the central role and solidarity of ASEAN and accelerating the ASEAN-U.S. Strategic Partnership more effectively, asserted Deputy PM Minh.

Mr. Cory Gardner confirmed to promote initiatives to strengthen the relations between the U.S. and the region, proposing that the two sides coordinate to address regional and international issues of shared concern, including the maintenance of peace, security, safety and freedom of navigation and aviation, and respect for international law in the East Sea.
