DPM receives Singaporean Attorney-General

VGP – Deputy PM Truong Hoa Binh on January 22 hosted a reception for Singaporean Attorney-General Lucien Wong who is paying a working visit to Viet Nam.

At the reception, Mr. Binh expressed his delight with the strong development in Viet Nam-Singapore relationship in fields of politics, economy, security-defense, health, education, people-to-people exchanges and justice. 

The Singaporean Attorney-General’s visit marks new cooperation in legislation and justice, making contributions to promoting the bilateral relationship to a higher level. 

Viet Nam and Singapore have joined the judicial assistance in ASEAN, he said, adding that the two nations have joined hand to gain achievements in criminal justice mandate. 

Singapore is the third largest investor in Viet Nam and is taking the lead among ASEAN nations with more than 1,800 projects, added Mr. Binh, supposing that the Viet Nam-Singapore Industrial Park is the symbol in the two nations’ relations. 

He expressed his belief that the two nations’ Strategic Partnership will enter a new development period, expecting the Singaporean Attorney-General will make contributions to the cooperation between the two sides, especially in justice. 

Viet Nam hopes to learn more experience from Singapore in areas of inspection, trial, construction of e-justice and prosecution, he said. 

He also valued the cooperation between the Supreme People's Procuracy of Viet Nam and the Singaporean Attorney-General, particularly in crime prevention through criminal justice assistance.

Mr. Lucien Wong reported to the Deputy PM the outcomes of the working sessions between the two agencies, including the cooperative opportunities and the signing ceremony of the memorandums of understanding in the time ahead. 

He committed to coordinating with the Supreme People's Procuracy of Viet Nam and other Vietnamese agencies to quickly and resolutely handle cases in line with the two nations’ regulations.
