Deputy PM Dung expressed the pleasure to witness the developments in the bilateral ties especially in economics, trade, and investment.

Japan continues to be one of Viet Nam’s leading economic partners and ODA providers with US$ 57 billion of FDI and about US$ 30 billion of ODA.

Mr. Dung was convinced that the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) and bilateral agreements would open up new opportunities for the two countries. The Vietnamese Government said the host leader would continue to create a favorable environment for foreign investors including Japanese ones to do long-term business here especially in such areas as infrastructure construction and energy.

He praised JBIC’s role in infrastructure and energy in Viet Nam. Over the past year, the bank has provided loans and promoted FDI in Viet Nam especially in large-scale projects including the Nghi Son oil refinery and petrochemical plant, Nghi Son 2 thermal power plant.

In addition, JBIC has proactively engaged in policy dialogues with Vietnamese ministries and sectors.

The host leader proposed JBIC research and broaden loans for Vietnamese enterprises and Vietnamese-Japanese joint ventures.

In reply, Mr. Masaaki Yamada announced that almost all JBIC-funded projects are extremely effective. So far, JBIC is focusing on technology transfer projects and encouraging Japanese SMEs to set footholds and expand business in Viet Nam.

In the coming time, the bank would offer more loans for Vietnamese enterprises to implement infrastructure and energy development projects./.
