Deputy PM Vuong Dinh Hue made that statement at his reception for Deputy U.S. Trade Representative for Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and Industrial Competitiveness Jeffrey Gerrish in Ha Noi on May 21.

The Vietnamese Deputy PM highly spoke of the two nations’ achievements in all fields, especially after PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s official visit to the U.S. in May 2017 and U.S. President Donal Trump’s official visit to Viet Nam in November 2017.

The Vietnamese Government is making efforts in improving the business environment and national competitiveness in the spirit of Government serving the people and businesses, asserted Mr. Hue, adding that international organizations have upgraded Viet Nam’s rankings in terms of the investment environment and national competitiveness.

The U.S. expects the two sides to reach agreements related to imports of cars, e-payment and regulations on installment of data management devices for Vietnamese users which is defined in draft Law on Cybersecurity, said Mr. Jeffrey Gerrish.

Deputy PM Hue said that he will ask related ministries and agencies to address the issues proposed by Mr. Jeffrey Gerrish before his working visit to the U.S. next month.

Regarding the economic-trade relations, Viet Nam is concerned about the U.S. imposing antidumping prices on Vietnamese shrimps and footwear and high tariffs on steel and aluminum, he added.

He announced that his upcoming visit to the U.S. is aimed at continuing launching reached agreements in 2017 and enhancing economic, trade and defense cooperation.
