Deputy PM, FM Pham Binh Minh

Via the official visit, Deputy PM Minh hopes to underline Viet Nam’s policy to cement and deepen the friendly and comprehensive ties with the UK especially when the two countries are marking the 45th anniversary of diplomatic ties (September 11, 1973-September 11, 2018); implement signed agreements to boost the strategic partnership especially in politics, security, economics, education and people-to-people exchanges.

During the visit, the Deputy PM will hold talks with British FM Jeremy Hunt; met with other senior leaders; attend the Viet Nam-UK Business Forum; and partake in the celebration of the 45th anniversary of diplomatic ties.

The bilateral ties have flourished in all fields. The two-way trade turnover grew rapidly and reached US$ 6 billion in 2017.

The UK was the 15th largest investor in Viet Nam with 267 valid projects worth US$ 3.71 billion. Meanwhile, Viet Nam had 11 projects worth over US$ 10 billion in the UK.

The Deputy PM will attend the 17th Francophonie Summit with a view to upholding Viet Nam’s status as a key country in the Asian Pacific Region; positively contributing to the community./.
