Deputy PM Dam was convinced that the forum would expand cooperation among Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, and Viet Nam (CLMV) and benefit regional people.

Thanks to the traditional ties, Viet Nam and Myanmar have spared no effort to promote the friendship and multifaceted ties and attained significantly achievements for the sake of respective people and contributed to ASEAN solidarity and cooperation, for peace, stability, and cooperation.

Both sides decided to maintain 12 fields of cooperative priority on economics, trade, and investment. Viet Nam was listed as one of the ten largest trade and investment partners of Myanmar. As of May, 2016, Vietnamese investors had 47 projects in Myanmar with a total investment of US$ 557 million. Last year, the two-way trade turnover fetched US$ 434 million.

Deputy PM Dam hoped that the Myanmar Government would continue to create favorable ways for Vietnamese enterprises to expand their presence here, particularly in the areas of banking, aviation, telecom, mining, tourism, as well as agriculture.

Viet Nam, said Mr. Dam, stands ready to share experience with Myanmar in its fields of strength like planting and processing rubber, coffee, and pepper for export.

Vice President Henry Van Thio praised the contributions of the Vietnamese business community for Myanmar and promised to facilitate their operation.

The host leader took the occasion to the Vietnamese Government’s support for  more investment in such areas as tourism, agriculture, and petroleum.
