DPM heads to China-South Asia Expo

VGP – Deputy PM Vu Van Ninh on Tuesday left Ha Noi for a visit to China’s Yunnan province where he will attend the first China-South Asia Expo and Kunming Import and Export Commodities Fair.

June 04, 2013 7:57 AM GMT+7

The four-day visit by Deputy PM Ninh aims to maintain regular contacts between leaders of Viet Nam and China, consolidate political trust and spur the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two sides.

The visit is expected to beef up the fine and traditional ties between Vietnamese bordering provinces and the capital city of Yunnan especially on economics, trade and investment.

As scheduled, Mr. Ninh will attend, deliver a speech at the two events and meet with Chinese Vice Premier Ma Kai and Yunnan’s local leaders.

With the goal of promoting China-South Asia cooperation and development, and sharing mutual benefits and harmonious development, the China-South Asia Expo will look to integrate commodity trade, service trade, investment cooperation, tourism cooperation and cultural exchanges.

Trade value between the two sides grew from US$5.7 billion in 2000 to US$93 billion in 2012, reflecting an annual growth rate of over 26%.

Firstly held in 1993, the Kunming Fair was a  regional international commodities fair co-sponsored by the Chinese Ministry of Commerce and the People’s Governments of Yunnan Province, Sichuan Province, Chongqing Municipality, Guizhou Province, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Tibet Autonomous Region and Chengdu City.

Last year, Viet Nam joined the Kunming Fair with 196 stalls of leading enterprises who wished to introduce, advertise products, seek opportunities and expand market shares.

This Kunming Fair will have the theme of “Inter-connectivity, Cooperation and Win-win”, that works to further expand its business spectrum and improve itself in terms of business level and effectiveness./.
