DPM asks for tougher measures against trafficking

VGP – Deputy PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc demanded harder measures to prevent trafficking, trade frauds and counterfeit products.

The Deputy PM made the request at a meeting on August 20 in Ha Noi between the Central Steering Committee for Anti-Smuggling, Counterfeit Goods and Trade Fraud and the Ministry of National Defense.

Addressing the event, Deputy PM Phuc who is the Head of the Central Steering Committee asked the Ministry of National Defense, related ministries and agencies to enforce resolutions and instructions of the Party and State on anti-drugs and crimes; prevention of trafficking, trade frauds and counterfeits.  

The Ministry of National Defense and competent forces were assigned to strengthen patrols along the border and at sea and management of staff and soldiers; especially punish those who protect and support trafficking.

The Ministry works with press agencies to disseminate laws so that people particularly those living in border areas wouldnot support smuggling.

The Government leader also suggested the Ministry of National Defense cooperate with the procedural agencies to speed up trial process of key cases.  

Meanwhile, border guard forces are responsible for coordinating with bordering countries to fight  trafficking.

In the first seven months, drug crime, trafficking, trade frauds and counterfeit goods in border areas, water areas and inland occurred complicatedly.

Especially, the trafficking of coal, ore, petrol, tobacco, foreign currencies, precious mental, and consumption products operated in a more sophisticated manner.

Military forces exposed 854 drug smuggling cases; capturing 1,140 people involved; seizing 754 bars of heroin and nearly 29kg of synthetic drugs.

In addition, 1,472 cases and 1,278 criminals involving in trafficking, trade frauds and counterfeit goods were brought to light../.
