DPM: VN makes efforts in building drug-free region
VGP – Viet Nam has joined hands with other nations in the region and the world to strictly implement reached commitments and agreements, striving to achieve common goals of the region for peace, stability, development and prosperity and building a drug-free region.

At the event, the Vietnamese Deputy PM asserted Viet Nam’s willingness and commitments to strengthen cooperation with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and other nations in the region and the world in struggling against drug.
He asked for launching suitable measures to prevent drug crimes and enhancing cooperation between related nations in the region and the world in addressing drug issues.
The Vietnamese Deputy PM stressed the need to uphold roles in establishing policies and strategies to control drug and mobilizing more resources for drug prevention and control initiatives amid decrease in international resources for drug prevention and control works.
Within the framework of the meeting, delegates focused on analyzing and evaluating new happenings in drug trafficking in the region as well as consented on some urgent and strategic measures to fight against drug crimes on border lines.
A joint declaration was approved at the meeting, asserting that nations in the region should promote the leading roles in establishing policies and strategies in controlling drug, enhancing raids and attacks to suppress drug criminals as well as accelerating information exchange and joint investigations.
As many as 200 delegates who are representatives of nations and international organizations of Laos, Cambodia, China, Thailand, Myanmar, the Philippines, Viet Nam, UNOCD, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the Australian Federal Police (AFP) attended the event.
