DPM: VN expects RoK to enhance technology transfer

VGP – Viet Nam expects the Republic of Korea (RoK) will enhance technology transfer for Viet Nam to boost investment and cooperation in the upcoming time, said Deputy PM, FM Pham Binh Minh at his reception for the RoK’s newly-appointed Ambassador to Viet Nam Kim Do Hyun on June 20.

At the meeting, the Deputy PM expressed his delight with  achievements in Viet Nam-RoK Strategic Partnership in all fields, especially through strengthening political trust and maintaining high-ranking delegation exchanges.

During the RoK’s President Moon Jae-in’s official visit to Viet Nam in March this year, the two nations proposed measures for developing their relationship in the future, consenting to upgrade the relations to a higher level, he stressed. 

The Vietnamese leaders hailed the RoK as the current largest investor in Viet Nam as well as its second ranking among Official Development Assistance providers and in term of the number of foreign visitors to Viet Nam.     

Particularly, the RoK overcame the U.S. to become the second largest trade partner of Viet Nam, he said, adding that the two sides are making efforts in achieving the two-way trade value of US$100 billion by 2020. 

Regarding the situations on the Korean Peninsula, Deputy PM Minh welcomed progress in dialogues and peaceful settlement of nuclear issues on the Korean Peninsula, asserting to join hands with related sides to accelerate the process. 

He expressed his hope that the Ambassador will make contributions to boosting the two nations’ relationship, especially in fields of economics, trade and investment.     

Mr. Kim Do Hyun said that one of priorities in his tenure in Viet Nam is to strengthen economic relations between the two sides. 

He committed to doing his utmost to enhance technology transfer and support Viet Nam to develop small and medium-sized enterprises system.
