VGP – Viet Nam attaches importance to consolidating and developing the friendship with Rwanda, a potential partner of Viet Nam in the East Africa, asserted Deputy PM, FM Pham Binh Minh at his talks with Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Rwanda Louise Mushikiwabo on August 7 in Ha Noi.

At the talks, the two diplomats consented to specific measures to promote the bilateral relationship more effectively and intensively.

Ms. Louise Mushikiwabo expected Viet Nam to assist Rwanda in agriculture, mining and telecommunications, welcoming Vietnamese businesses to establish investment and trade relations in Rwanda.

The two sides were unanimous in strengthening delegation exchanges at all levels, especially high-ranking ones through Parties, States, parliaments, ministries, agencies and localities as well as encouraging and facilitating people-to-people exchanges and mutual knowledge.

Viet Nam hopes to receive Rwandan high-ranking leaders to visit Viet Nam, said Mr. Minh.

Both leaders pledged to enhance bilateral trade value, including acceleration of information exchanges on policies and market, create favorable conditions for their enterprises and boost trade promotion activities and forums, exhibitions and fairs.

They discussed measures to strengthen cooperation in such areas as agriculture, oil and gas, telecommunications, defense-security, assenting to soon ink legal documents such as visa exemption for diplomatic and service passport holders, trade agreement, an agreement for the encouragement and protection of investment and the cooperative protocol between the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs to create a favorable legal framework for the two nations’ cooperative relations.

The two sides committed to strengthening exchanges and coordination at multi-lateral forums such as the United Nations and the International Organization of La Francophonie.

Viet Nam is the key member of the International Organization of La Francophonie in the Asia-Pacific region and has always promoted its active and responsible role in upgrading the status of the organization in the region, confirmed Mr. Minh.

They exchanged issues of international and regional concerns, asserting to support the settlement of disputes, including ones in the East Sea through peaceful measures, fully respecting diplomatic and legal processes, preventing the use of forces or threat to use forces, based on international laws, including the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea 1982.
