DPM Minh receives Japanese State Minister for Foreign Affairs
VGP – Deputy PM, FM Pham Binh Minh expressed pleasure at the comprehensive advancements of the Viet Nam-Japan extensive strategic partnership over the past time, especially the cordial contacts and meetings between their high-level leaders in 2017.

He stressed the point on Tuesday at reception for Japanese State Minister for Foreign Affairs Kazuyuki Nakane who is in Viet Nam to attend the 5th Viet Nam-Japan Festival in Ho Chi Minh City.
Deputy PM, FM Minh suggested the two countries should continue beefing up high-level visits and contacts on the occasion of the 45th founding anniversary of diplomatic ties this year while further strengthening economic, trade and investment cooperation.
He especially highlighted that Japan’s official development assistance offered to Viet Nam during the past 25 years has significantly contributed to socio-economic and infrastructure development in the Southeast Asian country.
For his part, Mr. Nakane also shared Deputy PM, FM Minh’s remarks on the development of the bilateral ties across fields in 2017.
The Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue close coordination with the Vietnamese counterpart to further deepen the two countries' cooperation in a practical manner, affirmed Nakane.
Japan stands ready to support Viet Nam’s efforts in economic and high-quality infrastructure development and administrative reform and expects to accelerate talks for early signing of bilateral agreements on mutual assistance in criminal matters and transfer of sentenced persons, he said.
Nakane announced the progress of talks on the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), a free trade agreement involving 11 countries in the Pacific region, including New Zealand, Australia, Brunei Darussalam, Canada, Chile, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Peru, Singapore, and Viet Nam.
He also affirmed Japan will continue working closely with Vie Nam at international and regional forums like the United Nations, APEC and ASEAN.
Viet Nam will undertake the role as country coordinator for ASEAN-Japan dialogue relations since this year’s end./.
