DPM Minh attends Cambodia-VN Joint Committee meeting

VGP – Deputy PM, FM Pham Binh Minh will attend the 13th Meeting of the Cambodia-Viet Nam Joint Committee for Economic, Cultural, Scientific and Technological Cooperation in Phnom Penh, Cambodia on February 10-11.

February 10, 2014 2:57 PM GMT+7

Deputy PM Minh and his Cambodian counterpart Hor Nam Hong will co-chair the event.

At this meeting, the two sides will discuss measures to speed up the relationship and comprehensive cooperation and launch cooperative agreements reached at the previous meeting.

Both will propose orientations for 2014 and exchange issues of international and regional concerns.

In 2013, the two PMs exchanged official visits. Two-way trade of the two countries reached US$3.5 billion and is expected to hit US$5 billion by 2015.

Viet Nam is the third largest trade partner of Cambodia among 140 nations and territories trading with the country.

Viet Nam mainly exports oil and gas, iron and steel, textile, agricultural machines, chemicals and fertilizers and imports rubber, timber and tobacco from Cambodia.

In investment, Viet Nam has poured US$3 billion in 127 projects in Cambodia, ranking fifth among the largest investors.

The two sides are completing procedures to realize an Agreement on investment encouragement and protection.
