At the meeting, the Vietnamese delegation made crucial contributions to discussions on priorities for cooperation of ASEAN in 2015, measures to accelerate the establishment of an ASEAN Community, expanding and strengthening the relations with other bloc partners and enhancing the bloc's connection and the unity and its central role in the region to deal with arising challenges and crisis.

Regarding the East Sea issue, Deputy PM Minh shared concerns about recent happenings, asserting that ASEAN needs to bring into full play its role in ensuring regional peace and security.

He suggested the Association boost up the implementation of specific measures for the full and effective observance of the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC), particularly Article 5 on restraining and not complicating the situation, while accelerating result-oriented negotiations towards the early formulation of the Code of Conduct in the East Sea (COC) and taking trust-building measures to prevent and manage sea incidents that threaten peace, security, and safety of navigation and aviation in the East Sea.
