DPM Hue to visit U.S., Brazil, Chile next week

VGP – Deputy PM Vuong Dinh Hue, head of the Steering Committee for international economic integration, will pay official visits to the U.S., Brazil and Chile from June 25-July 6.

He will be accompanied by Minister of Transport Nguyen Van The, deputy head of the Central Economic Commission Tran Sy Thanh, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ha Kim Ngoc, Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Vu Dai Thang, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Do Thang Hai, Deputy Minister of Finance Huynh Quang Hai, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Ha Cong Tuan, Deputy Governor of the State Bank of Viet Nam Nguyen Thi Hong and Vice Chairman of the Government Office Nguyen Sy Hiep.

The Deputy PM’s official visit to the U.S. from June 25-27 aims to maintain and enhance the two countries’ diplomatic relations, affirming Viet Nam’s wish to accelerate cooperation with the U.S. within the Comprehensive Partnership, and seeking ways to promote bilateral economic, trade and investment ties on the basis of mutual interests.

He will attend the Viet Nam Executive Leadership Program (VELP) in Harvard University, Boston.

The VELP is jointly initiated by the Vietnamese Government, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the Viet Nam Program at the Harvard Kennedy School’s Ash Center for Democratic Governance and Innovation.

The program provides forum for senior policy-makers and corporate executives to engage in structured, research-based discussions about the key policy challenges confronting Viet Nam and the world, with prominent international scholars, policy-makers and business leaders.

A lot of leaders from the Vietnamese Government and National Assembly joined the program.

At the VELP in 2018, U.S. leading researchers will update the Vietnamese delegation on issues faced by Viet Nam during the process of deploying the 2011-2020 socio-economic development strategy.

During Hue’s official visit to Brazil from July 2-3, both sides will discuss measures to boost their Comprehensive Partnership, including ways to accelerate bilateral trade and investment cooperation and export to Brazil.

During his official visit to Chile, the Deputy PM is expected to discuss on the exchange of high level visits in the time to come as well as the two countries’ coordination at bilateral and multilateral aspects.

The occasion, a number of crucial agreements and projects will be inked between Viet Nam and these countries.
