Credit for agriculture and rural development proves effective

VGP – Credit for agriculture and rural development has effectively contributed to the sector’s industrialization and modernization, said Governor of State Bank of Việt Nam Nguyễn Văn Giàu.

February 02, 2011 8:00 AM GMT+7

To produce more contributions, the Government on April 12, 2010 issued Decree No.  41/2010/NĐ-CP under which the volume of each loan increased to VND 50 million (US $2,500), while procedures for acquiring loans have been much streamlined to save farmers’ time.

By October 30 last year, the State capital for agriculture and rural development through the Bank for Social Policies alone benefited 6.7 million of households and helped nearly 2 million households get rid of poverty.

Besides the Decree No. 41, the Government also has enacted other policies to encourage businesses to pour more money in agriculture and rural development, to assist farmers with preferential interest rates and post-crop technologies.
