Coronavirus cluster in Bach Mai Hospital under control, official says
VGP – Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Thanh Long said Friday that the coronavirus cluster at Ha Noi’s Bach Mai Hospital has been put under control.
The Heart Institute, Department of Cardiology and Center for Tropical Diseases of the hospital have been comprehensively quarantined, Long said.
As many as 573 persons, including medical staffs, patients, and caretakers who had been in close contact with COVID-19 patients have also been quarantined, Long added.
On March 20, the Ministry of Health confirmed that two female nurses working at Ha Noi’s Bach Mai Hospital contracted the virus.
One of them works at the Heart Institute and the other is a staff at the Center for Tropical Diseases.
On March 24, the ministry announced that a 66-year old woman from Lai Chau Province, who had received treatment at the hospital, was tested positive for the virus.
One day later, the hospital said it planned to test nearly 4,000 medical staffs and around 1,000 patients in a bid to contain spread of the virus.
