Construction plan to be designed for Nui Coc Lake national tourist area
VGP – Deputy PM Trinh Dinh Dung has agreed on the Ministry of Construction’s designing of a construction plan for the Nui Coc Lake national tourist area in the northern province of Thai Nguyen until 2025, with orientations towards 2030.
Under the plan, the core area to be developed into the Nui Coc Lake national tourist area will cover 1,200 hectares. The planned region includes the entire landscape of Nui Coc Lake and neighbouring areas in Thai Nguyen city, Pho Yen town and Dai Tu district.
Accordingly, the Nui Coc Lake tourist site will be recognized as a national tourist area by 2025, and will become a large ecotourism and resort center of the country five years later, with a synchronous and modern infrastructure system, and diverse, high-quality and highly competitive tourist products in association with the Thai Nguyen tea brand.
The Nui Coc Lake national tourist area targets to welcome about 2.5 million tourist arrivals (10,000 international overnight stays) in 2025 and four million arrivals (20,000 international overnight stays) in 2030, grossing a total revenue of VND860 billion (US$37.84 million) by 2025 and approximately VND2 trillion (US$88 million) by 2030.
As a key national tourist area, the Nui Coc Lake tourist area has set a direction of developing tourism in association with protecting and reasonably exploiting natural resources and ensuring the safety and quality of Nui Coc Lake water; creating special tourist products through taking advantage of the lake’s landscape, the tea ecosystem and the Thai Nguyen tea culture; and strengthening linkages with other national tourism sites and areas in the northern midland region to develop uninterrupted tours.
