The North-South Expressway is the first national key project in the 2017-2020 period which was passed by the National Assembly with 11 components including the Cam Lo-La Son line which connects Quang Tri and Thua Thien Hue provinces with a total length of 100km. The VND 7,669 billion project is expected to come into operation in 2021.

The Government planned to build an addition of 900km of highways by 2021 and 2,000 km of highways by 2025, bringing the total length of highways to 4,000 km by 2025.

National highways play an important role in connecting provinces, cities, key economic regions, national development, and higher living standards. Especially, expressways serve to cut labor cots, product costs, and generate competitiveness in the context of deep international integration.

According to PM Phuc, Viet Nam will have four key transport lines including the National Road No. 1 which is being upgraded; Ho Chi Minh Road, North-South Expressway, and costal road.

He was convinced that the Cam Lo-La Son expressway would help boost economic growth in Quang Tri and Thua Thien Hue.

On this occasion, the PM praised the Ministry of Transport, relevant ministries and agencies, the Ho Chi Minh Road Management Board, the local authorities of Quang Tri and Thua Thien Hue for the groundbreaking ceremony. He noticed the local authorities to pay attention to residents who gave up land for the project to stabilize lives.

In addition, he tasked the Ministry of Transport, the Ho Chi Minh Road Management Board and bidders to implement the project on schedule with  good quality; prevent corruption and negative acts./.
