Construction begins on biggest expressway in the South

VGP – Construction began Saturday on the US$1.6 billion Ben Luc-Long Thanh expressway project with the presence of PM Nguyen Tan Dung.

The project, implemented by the Viet Nam Expressway Corporation, has an overall length of 57.1km, traversing through Ho Chi Minh City and Long An, Dong Nai provinces.

The four-lane expressway is designed for vehicles to run at a maximum speed of approximately 100km per hour.

Speaking at the ground-breaking ceremony, PM Dung asked localities and contractors to pay attention to site clearance and carry out the project on schedule, meeting technical specifications.

The Government chief took the occasion to thank Japan and the Asian Development Bank for their assistance for Viet Nam in infrastructure development over the past time.

The project is expected to come into operation by 2018./.
