Consolidating National Council for sustainable development and competitiveness improvement

VGP – The Prime Minister has signed a decision on consolidating the organization and operation of the National Council for Sustainable Development and Competitiveness Improvement.

Accordingly, the Council serves as an advisory body for the Government and the PM on issues related to sustainable development and competitiveness improvement.

The Council is tasked with advising the Government and the PM in directing the development and implementation of strategies, policies, plans, programs, tasks and solutions, in order to effectively deploy the National Action Plan for the implementation of the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda, improve the business and investment environment, increase the labor productivity and national competitiveness, and implement the Viet Nam 2035 report. 

At the same time, the Council will submit to the Government and the PM reports recommending measures aiming to promote sustainable development, and raise labor productivity and competitiveness; alongside the reports on results of implementing innovation and enhancing scientific and technological potential. 

According to the decision, Deputy PM Vu Duc Dam will serve as Chairman of the Council.

Vice chairpersons are the Minister of Planning and Investment (Standing Vice Chairman); the Minister of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment; the Minister of Science and Technology; and the Minister of Education and Training.

The council members include the leaders of the Ministry of Planning and Investment, theGovernment Office, the Foreign Ministry, the Finance Ministry, the Ministry of Industry and Trade,the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Ministry of Information and Communications, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Construction, the Ministry of Transport, the Government’s Committee for Ethnic Minority Affairs, the Viet Nam Academy of Social Sciences, the Viet Nam Academy of Science and Technology, the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Small and Medium-sized Business Association, some experts invited by the Chairman of the Council, and the General Secretary of the Council.
