Conditions on fresh fruit imports to VN

VGP – Fresh fruits are subject to plant quarantine and risk analysis before being imported into Viet Nam.

Question: I want to import fresh fruits from Greece to Viet Nam? Which fresh fruits are allowed?

Answer: Decree 187/2013/ND-CP, dated November 20, 2013 detailing the implementation of the Commercial Law regarding international goods sale and purchase and goods sale, purchase, processing and transit agency activities with foreign countries (Decree 187), fruits are not named in the lists of prohibited goods for importation and temporary suspension of importation.

You are permitted to import all types of fruits to Viet Nam.

However, you have to obey with the following conditions.

According to Point 2, Article 1, Circular 39/2012/TT-BNNPTNT, dated August 13 of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, fresh fruits are subjected to plant quarantine and risk analysis before being imported into Viet Nam.

Article 10 of Decree 02/2007/ND-CP on plant quarantine stipulates the following import conditions:

·Being granted plant quarantine certificates by competent plant protection agencies of countries of exportation or certificates of equivalent value;

·Being free from regulated pests on the lists specified at Point a, Clause 1 of this Decree and from foreign harmful organisms; if infected with pests, such articles must be treated thoroughly;

·Being granted import plant quarantine permits for articles subject to pest risk analysis before those articles are imported into Viet Nam;

·For materials packed with import timber, they must be treated with plant quarantine measures according to regulations./.
