Conditions for recognition as a tourist resort, tourist spot

VGP – The Government has recently issued a decree detailing a number of articles of the Law on Tourism, including conditions for a place to be recognized as a tourist spot and a tourist resort.

Specifically, a tourist spot that fully meets the following conditions shall be recognized as a national tourist spot:

1- Having attractive tourism resources and a definite boundary on the topographic map certified by a competent authority;
 
2- Having necessary infrastructure and tourist service facilities in service of visitors, including convenient traffic connectivity and communications, electricity and safe water, signboards on the tourist spot, and shopping and catering services; 
 
3- Meeting requirements on social security, order and safety, and environmental protection. 

A tourist resort will be recognized as a national tourist resort if it has at least two tourism resources, including a national-level resources, and has a definite boundary on the topographic map certified by an authorized agency.

It must be included in the list of areas potentially developed into national resorts, which has been approved by the Prime Minister.

In addition, the resort needs to have high-quality and synchronous infrastructure and technical facilities that could meet the tourists’ demand for accommodation and catering services, as well as other demands. 

Specifically, it should have establishments trading in catering, shopping, entertainment and healthcare services capable of at least 500,000 arrivals of visitors annually. 

The system of overnight accommodation establishments must satisfy at least 300,000 tourist arrivals each year. 

Besides, the resort must be connected to the national traffic and telecommunication systems, whilst meeting requirements on social security, order and safety, and environmental protection.
