Clean water accessible to 80% suburban Hanoians by 2020
VGP – One of targets of the 2009-2020 program on clean water supply and environmental hygiene in rural areas which was recently ratified by the Hà Nội Municipal People’s Committee is to give 80% of the capital city’s population with clean water by 2020.

The program is implemented in three phases.
In the first period (2009-10), sanitized water will be provided to 90% of rural residents of Hà Nội and 40% of the population can get access to clean water.
From 2010 to 2015, these figures will be raised to 100% and 60% respectively.
In the last phase, clean water will be accessible to 80% of the rural population.
The program also aims at treating sewage from breeding farms and handicraft villages.
