Circular tightens entry and exit of portable alcohol, cigars, gold

VGP – The Ministry of Finance has issued Circular No.52/2017/TT-BTC amending Circular No. 120/2015/TT-BTC dated August 14, 2015, promulgating forms, printing, issuance, management and use of customs declarations for incoming and outgoing passengers, which sets limits on portable goods for alcohol, cigars and gold.

Specifically, people on exit and entry must register customs procedures when they bring goods subject to tax including wine from 20 degrees or more exceeding 1.5 liters or less than 20 degrees above two liters, beverage and beer more than three liters, more than 200 cigarettes or 250 gram of shredded tobacco or 20 cigars and other items worth more than VND10 million (US$450).

People on exit and entry must register customs procedures when they bring gold in these cases: golden jewelry of more than 300 gram or foreigners allowed residing in Viet Nam when carrying gold jewelry, gold bars and materials and fine-art objects made of gold provided the total weight of these objects is not more than 300 grams.

The Circular will take effect since July 10, 2017.
