Chinese guard forces help rescue Vietnamese sailors

VGP - Chinese rescue workers have searched and saved ten Vietnamese fishermen in a cargo ship losing contact on their way to shelter from a storm.

August 10, 2009 8:00 PM GMT+7

A Vietnamese cargo ship carrying the 10-member crew aboard has been rescued by Chinese border guard forces offshore Hainan Province, said the China Marine Search and Rescue Center in a message delivered to the Vietnamese Embassy in Beijing.

In the early morning of August 8, the vessel “Hoàng Phương-02” lost contact while sheltering from a hurricane and China immediately deployed helicopters to carry out the relief efforts.

At 12:15 PM of the day, with helicopters, five ships and 60 rescue workers, the local border guards saved the Vietnamese sailors who are now safe and in stable conditions.

On behalf of the fishermen and their relatives, the Vietnam Embassy in Beijing expressed their gratitude to Chinese marine guard forces for their supports./.
