China’s province seeks VN’s investors

VGP - Việt Nam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade has hosted a trade and investment promotion forum between Việt Nam and China’s Sichuan Province in Hà Nội.

Jia Zhuang Miao, Deputy Director of the Sichuan Trade Department, leading the Chinese business delegation to the forum, expressed his hope that more and more Vietnamese businesses would come to invest in his province.

Recently, Sichuan has actively integrated in the ASEAN Free Trade Area in order to obtain new economic leaps, said Mr. Jia.

Deputy Head Đào Trần Nhân of the Asia-Pacific Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade) also stressed the importance of trade and economic cooperation between the two sides. He called on businesses from Việt Nam and Sichuan to further forge close cooperation through specific investment contracts.

Trade and economic cooperation between Việt Nam and China in general and Sichuan Province in particular has undergone a long history. In recent years, two-way trade has been booming for mutual benefits.

Last year, Việt Nam’s export to Sichuan was valued at US $230 million, doubling the previous year’s figure. The major exports include electronic products, semiconductors, mechanic and electric products.

Meanwhile, Sichuan earned US $330 million from its export to Việt Nam with such goods as garments, steel, bags, suitcase, micro-electronic and mechanic products.

Sichuan businesses are the general contractors of two multi-billion dollar thermo power projects, which are well-underway in Việt Nam’s Hải Phòng City and Quảng Ninh Province.
