The six-day event, which is part of the national trade promotion programme in 2019, aims to connect the Lao Cai market with the whole country, as well as to connect the domestic market with the Chinese market.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Lao Cai People’s Committee Le Ngoc Hung stressed that the Lao Cai and China’s Yunnan province have nurtured a traditional friendship. The two localities have over the years joined hands to foster socio-economic development.

Export-import revenues through Lao Cai-Hekou border gates report an average growth of nearly 20% per year, while the flow of tourists through their border gates rises over 21 percent annually, he noted.

The fair featured 205 pavilions of Chinese enterprises from Yunnan, Sichuan and Hubei; as well as over 500 booths from Viet Nam.

In addition, numerous enterprises from other countries and territories, including the Republic of Korea, Taiwan (China) and Thailand.

The products on display at the fair embrace a wide range of industries, including agro-forestry and fisheries, mechanics, electronics, wood, leather, apparel, household appliances, handicrafts and fine arts.

The annual fair is held alternately in Lao Cai (Viet Nam) and Yunnan (China) provinces, aiming to promote the trade between Viet Nam – China and other countries, towards cooperation, friendship and development.

The event is a chance for enterprises to introduce their products and services as well as seek more opportunities to expand their investment, cooperation and market.

The event, part of the 2019 National Trade Promotion Program, is being organised by the Trade Promotion Agency under the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT), the Lao Cai Department of Industry and Trade, and the trade authorities of Honghe prefecture of China’s Yunnan province.
