Chief diplomat has busy tour to Poland

During the tour, Deputy PM Minh met with Vice Speaker of the House of Representatives Jerzy Wenderlich, Deputy PM and Minister of Economy Janusz Piechociński; held talks with Polish FM Radoslaw Sikorski; delivered remarks at the meeting of Polish Ambassadors to the Asia – Pacific region; met with representatives of Polish enterprises; and visited the Vietnamese community and Embassy in Poland.

During the talks and contacts, the two sides discussed on a wide range of issues and agreed on major orientations and specific measures to strengthen the multi-faceted ties in the time to come.

Polish side said President Bronisław Maria Komorowski will visit Viet Nam in 2015 on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of diplomatic ties.

Deputy PM affirmed that Viet Nam stands ready to create favorable conditions for Polish investors to boost trade and investment links, especially in such fields like shipbuilding, infrastructure development, technology, environment, milk production and food processing.

The two sides agreed to accelerate the implementation of the signed economic agreements, including disbursement of the credit loan worth €250 million funded by the Polish Government for Viet Nam.

Both sides also agreed to speed up the establishment of a Viet Nam-Poland Intergovernmental Committee in the near future.

As education and training cooperation is among key pillars of the bilateral relations, Poland committed to granting favorable conditions for Vietnamese students, increasing scholarships, and signing a new education cooperation agreement.

The two countries were unanimous in fostering cooperation in defense, environmental protection, waste water treatment; signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Cooperation between the Vietnamese Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Poland.

Polish leaders also commended the Vietnamese community’s positive contributions to their national development.

The two sides also exchanged views on international and regional issues of mutual concern and agreed to increase cooperation and support at multilateral forums and international organizations, especially the UN and ASEM.

Poland confirmed its backing for Viet Nam’s relations with the European Union (EU) and early conclusion of the Viet Nam-EU Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) negotiations before October 2014.

The Parliament of Poland would soon ratify the Viet Nam-EU Partnership and Cooperation Agreement (PCA).

Regarding the East Sea issue, Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski said that his country supports the stance of resolving all disputes by peaceful measures in accordance with international law./.
