April 22, 2019 6:17 AM GMT+7

NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan (1st from R) presented Resolution 623/NQ-UBTVQH14 of the National Assembly Standing Committee to the local authorities of Chi Linh city, April 20, 2019

The event drew the participation of  Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam, Chief Judge of the Supreme People’s Court Nguyen Hoa Binh, Minister of Finance Dinh Tien Dung, among other officials.

On this occasion, Chairwoman Ngan presented Resolution 623/NQ-UBTVQH14 of the National Assembly Standing Committee to the local authorities of Chi Linh city.

Chi Linh used to be a mountainous district, becoming a young urban in the north of Hai Duong province. It is located on the Ha Noi-Hai Phong-Quang Ninh key economic triangle with a total area of 282.9km2 and a population of 220,421. The city is home to 15 ethnic groups.

In 2015, Chi Linh town was recognized as a third-grade urban. In 2017, Chi Linh was one of the two localities which accomplished the task of new rural building in Hai Duong province.

Over the past years, economic structure has been positively transformed. Industry and trade-service currently make up over 57% and 32% of the local economy, respectively. Crop production index has been reduced to just above 10%. Chi Linh’s per capital income exceeded VND 75 million (US$ 3,230) in 2018, higher than the average levels of Hai Duong and Viet Nam.

It is home to the national special relic site Con Son-Kiep Bac, a defence line built at the end of the 14th century to protect the Thang Long Imperial Citadel. It witnessed important battles between the Tran Dynasty army and the Yuan-Mongol invaders in the 14th and 15th centuries.

Addressing at the event, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s Council Nguyen Manh Hien called upon the city to expand urban space, invest in technical and social infrastructure, protect the environment, and boost tourism infrastructure in making the city a hub of spiritual, eco, and resort tourism./.
