Cars imports in July up 10%

VGP – As many as 11,609 cars, worth US$259 million, were imported into Viet Nam in July, an increase of 10.1% or 1,069 ones compared to the previous month, according to the General Department of Customs.

Cars were mainly imported from Thailand (6,572 ones), Indonesia (3,210 ones), China (600 ones), Japan (201 ones) and the Republic of Korea (157 ones), making up 96%. 

The nation imported 86,969 cars over the recent seven months of 2019, 4.6 times higher than the same period last year (18,888 ones). 

The nation spent US$455 million on importing automobile spare parts and tools in July, an increase of 52.5% against the previous month (US$292 million). 

The total import value of automobile spare parts and tools in seven months hit US$2.39 billion, a year-on-year increase of 15.3%.
