The course is part of an Orbis-financed project on increasing capacity for the Đà Nẵng Eye Hospital to become a leading establishment for eye treatment in Central Việt Nam and the Central Highlands.

Prof. McCulley together with local oculists will give check-ups to 30 selected patients and conduct ophthalmic surgeries for 10-15 of them.

The professor will donate the hospital with some special tools that he brought with him for the program.

Starting its operation in Việt Nam in 1996, Orbis has been assisting Vietnamese partners to build a full network of eye care, which is able to provide timely and quality services to Vietnamese people at reasonable prices.

The University of California, an important partner of Orbis, has recently trained six Vietnamese ophthalmologists.
