Cabinet members discuss wide range of issues

The Cabinet members agreed that the economy continued to move on the right track with controlled inflation, slight rise of consumer price index (CPI); stablized market prices, interest and exchange rates, foreign currency market;  ensured goods demand-supply; high growth rate of exports, improving agricultural production among others.

They also pointed out difficulties and barriers faced by businesses, high rate of dissolved and temporarily-suspended enterprises, low credit growth compared to the same period last year, and slow re-arrangement and reform of State-owned enterprises.

To achieve this year’s growth rate of 5.8%, the Government needs to redouble efforts in faciliating business operations, improving investment environment, raising the economy’s aggregate demand, refreshing real estate market, diversifing export markets, quickening FDI and ODA disbursement.

The Cabinet members stressed on the need to accelerate administrative reform in taxation and customs sectors by cutting outdated procedures and mobilize resources for infrastructure development and strictly punishing acts of trade frauds and tax evasion.

Regarding education and training sector, Minister of Education and Training Pham Vu Luan reported on the Ministry’s efforts in renovating teaching methods and evaluation.

The Ministry is also mulling organization of a two-in-one examination (combinging final secondary school leaving examination and university entrance examination). For this national examination, PM Dung asked the Ministry to collect the public’s ideas to finalize the plan so that it can be applied since 2015.

Regarding the situation of Vietnamese workers in Libya, Minister of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs Pham Thi Hai Chuyen said her Ministry has coordinated with relevant agencies, ministries and businesses to ensure the safety for the workers.

PM Dung asked the Ministries of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs and Foreign Affairs to closely follow the situation and take necessary measures to ensure safety for the Vietnamese workers there.

Meanwhile, Deputy PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc urged ministries, sectors and localities to continue administrative reform, closely manage import-export activities, prevent cross-border smuggling and fight against crimes to ensure social order and safety.

At the meeting, President of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front Nguyen Thien Nhan suggested that the Government and the Front jointly conduct surveys on people’s satisfaction of public services.
