Cabinet discusses socio-economic performance, gradual reopening of economy

VGP – The Government convened a meeting on Saturday morning to deliberate on socio-economic performance in the first nine months this year and ways to safely and flexibly adapt to the COVID-19 pandemic and gradually reopen the economy.

October 02, 2021 2:00 PM GMT+7

In his opening remarks, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control had agreed on the need to develop a roadmap for the country to adapt safely and flexibly to the COVID-19 pandemic because it is difficult to strive for zero infection cases.

The National Steering Committee, led by PM Pham, tasked the Ministry of Health to develop provisional guidelines which are now open for comments by authorities at all levels, experts and scientists.

As there is no perfect solution while the COVID-19 pandemic still evolves swiftly and complicatedly, the provisional guidelines need to be developed carefully and thoroughly, said PM Pham.

He emphasized that we are not allowed to loosen vigilance against the pandemic but we also need a roadmap to restore economic activities./.
