According to the Ministry of Planning and Investment, Viet Nam’s index of industrial production expanded 10.4% between January-October compared to 9.6% of the same period last year.

Total retail sales of goods and services rose 11.4% and foreign arrivals reached 12.8 million, up 22.4%, said the Ministry.

The consumer price index picked up by 0.33% in October and 3.6% in the reviewed period.

The country’s export values grew 14.2% to over US$200 billion, gaining a trade surplus of US$6.4 billion.

The Ministry said there were nearly 110,000 new businesses so far this year, up 4.3%  and 9.2% in terms of number and capital volume.

Speaking at the meeting, PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc pointed out shortcomings of the economy that require greater efforts to fix, especially the country’s business environment and competitiveness index has been slowly improved./.
