CPVCC wraps up 5th plenum, institutional improvements among top priorities

VGP – The Communist Party of Viet Nam Central Committee (CPVCC) wrapped up its 5th plenary meeting on May 10 after six working days with institutional improvements being identified among top priorities.

During the plenum, the CPVCC debated on improvement of socialist-oriented market economy institutions; rearrangement, reform and improvement of the effectiveness of State-owned enterprises.

The Committee also discussed ways to boost the development of the private economic sector and considered disciplinary measures against a Party member.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong urged the 12th Party Central Committee to focus on improving institutions for effective mobilization, allocation and use of resources as well as for distribution of outcomes to ensure social progress, equality, national defense and security.

He called for improving business environment institutions and breakthrough policies to remove obstacles against businesses based on accelerating comprehensive administrative and judicial reforms.

The Party chief stressed the need to improve institutions on developing and applying scientific-technological advances and on developing education and training to produce high-quality workforce to grasp opportunities of the 4th industrial revolution.

Trong also asked for innovating the role and function and improving the effectiveness and efficiency of economic management of the State and its capacity to institutionalize the Party’s guidelines and organize the implementation of the State’s laws and policies.

The Party leadership and institutions for power management need to be innovated too, the Party General Secretary./.
