Party's Inspection Commission announces outcomes of 27th session

According to a press release following the 3rd working day of the CPVCC’s on-going 8th plenum, the CPVCC decided to deprive Nguyen Bac Son of the CPVCC membership and Secretary of the Ministry’s Party Committee tenure 2011-2016.

Son was disciplined as he took main responsibility for serious violations in the illegal acquisition of a TV firm by MobiFone.

As the Minister of Information and Communications between 2011 and 2016, Son had approved the acquisition of private pay TV firm AVG by the state-owned MobiFone without the Prime Minister’s approval, thus violating democratic centralism and working regulations and showing lack of democracy in leadership and steering work.

He directly decided on many of the contents of the acquisition that were against legal regulations. He signed project-related documents that were submitted to the Prime Minister for approval and assigned his subordinates to sign project-related documents that were against regulations and not included in their duty description. He gave insufficient direction and inspection during the project.

According to the Politburo, the Ministry's Party Committee had committed serious violations in the case, causing huge losses to the State budget and seriously affecting the operation and equitisation of Mobifone, harming the prestige of Party organizations and the ministry, and stirring public anxiety. It also let some of the ministry’s leaders seriously violate working regulations and fail to complete their assigned tasks.

Former CPVCC member, former Vice Chairman of the CPVCC Organization Commission Tran Van Minh

The same day, the CPVCC also decided to expel Tran Van Minh from the Party.

Minh was former CPVCC member, former Vice Chairman of the CPVCC Organization Commission, former Vice Secretary of the Party Committee of Da Nang City and former Chairman of Da Nang People’s Committee.

As Vice Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committe, Minh had violated the democratic centralism principle and anti-corruption regulations as well as rules on land and public asset management, causing great losses and waste of state budget./.
