CPI slightly increases in Hà Nội and HCMC

VGP - The Consumer Price Index (CPI) of the country's two economic hubs, Hà Nội and Hồ Chí Minh City, in April slightly increased by 0.13% and 0.49% respectively in comparison with last month figure, said the General Statistics Office (GSO) of Việt Nam.

CPI  in April in Hà Nội and Hồ Chí Minh City slightly went up

In Hà Nội, beverage and medicines got the highest soar (0.38%), followed by domestic utensils (0.35%), garments and footwear (0.29%).

Food and related services, taking the biggest proportion of the CPI basket, just went up by 0.26%.  Prices of other commodities seemed to stand firmly while building materials decreased by 0.83%.

Prices of gold and the US green notes respectively increased by 1.17% and 0.9% against last month.

Meanwhile, Hồ Chí Minh City’s CPI rose by 1.88%  for the first four months and by 10.2% compared to the same period last year.

On the contrary to Hà Nội, food and related services, transport, telecommunication and post in the southern economic hub saw the highest escalation rate, but the prices of garments, footwear, cultural, sport and tourist services dropped.

According to the GSO, the country's CPI increase in the first four months is much lower than the same period last year (9.15%), mainly because of the shrinkage of production activities and domestic consumption.
