CPI makes first decrease after six years

VGP – It is the first time since 2012 the Consumer Price Index (CPI) in July witnessed a decrease of 0.09% against the previous month, according to the General Statistics Office.

The CPI in July increased 3.45% against the same period last year. 

In comparison with the previous month, eight out of 11 commodities saw increases in prices, including goods and other services up 0.56%, restaurants and food services up 0.43%, housing and building materials up 0.37%, culture, entertainment and tourism up 0.26%, garments, hats and footwear up 0.12%, equipments and household commodities up 0.11%, beverage and tobacco up 0,05% and education up 0.05%. 

The prices of three groups decreased such as medicine and health service down 5.85%, transport down 0.52% and post and telecommunications down 0.05%. 

The core inflation in July picked up 0.15% against the previous month and up 1.41% compared to the same period last year. The average core inflation rate over the recent seven months of the year saw a year-on-year increase of 1.36%.
