The highest price increase seen among food products, at 0.46%

The CPI jump in April is attributed to the increase of electricity and gasoline prices.

Experts believed that the current CPI rate is meaningful for the recovering economy as it helps boost production.

Among the ten most important categories of commodities, only culture, sport and entertainment products have decreased in price by 0.64%, showing that customers still tighten expenditure on unnecessary commodities and services.

The prices of the rest categories increase from 0.20-0.48%. Garments, footwear see the lowest price escalation rates, meanwhile vehicles and post services get the highest soar.

Comparing the CPI rates among different regions nationwide, the Mekong Delta sees the highest CPI increase, up 0.70% against the previous month, followed by the Southeast (0.43%), Central Coast (0.31%), Northeast (0.21%), and Red River Delta (0.20%). The Central Highlands is the only region owning a CPI decline of 0.03%.
