CPI in March increases 0.15%

VGP – The Consumer Price Index (CPI) in March only increased 0.15% against the previous month and witnessed a year-on-year increase of 0.93% despite the rise in the prices of oil and electricity.

The rise in the oil and gas price only contributed to 0.04% in the CPI of March.

According to the General Statistics Office, the CPI in this month decreased 0.1% compared to December 2014.

Among 11 commodities calculated, three groups saw increases in prices including restaurants and food services up 0.36%, housing and building materials up 16% and culture, entertainment and tourism up 18%.

The prices of other groups such as home decoration, medicine and health service and education did not change.

Reductions were recorded in beverage and tobaccos (down 0.11%), garment and hats (down 0.04%), transportation (down 0.31%) and telecommunications (down 0.02%).

The price of US$ rose 1.26%.
