PM Pham made the statement at the Cabinet meeting on Thursday, during which the Cabinet members also discussed the implementation of the medium-term public investment plan for the 2015-2020 period and orientations for the upcoming period, and an expressway development plan for the 2021-2025 period and orientations towards 2030.

Speaking on behalf of the Government, Pham applauded and appreciated the efforts by different sectors, localities, business community and people to join front liners, especially health workers in implementing COVID-19 prevention measures.

He demanded subordinate levels to continue sustaining vigilance against the pandemic amd rapid testing in the pandemic-hit areas while considering vaccination a strategic and decisive mission.

Pham also urged subordinate levels to continue improving mechanisms and policies to facilitate COVID-19 response and support those affected by the pandemic.

As of 6:15 pm on Thursday, Viet Nam confirmed 8,063 COVID-19 cases, including 4,955 domestic infections recorded in 37 out of 63 cities and provinces since April 27 when the fourth COVID-19 wave broke out, according to the Ministry of Health.

Public investment capital must focus on key and urgent projects

Regarding public investment orientations in the 2021-2025 period, PM Pham ordered reduction of the number of projects in order to steer investment capital to key and urgent projects.

The Government reached a consensus on the need to design an expressway development plan for the next five years and orientations towards 20230 as part of solutions to realize the goals set out in the Resolution adopted at the 13th National Party Congress.

The Government said this is a difficult and complex task that requires involvement of the whole political system as well as innovative management thoughts and activness of localities./.
