COVID-19: Nearly 5,000 medical staffs, patients to be diagnosed

VGP – Bach Mai hospital said it planned to test nearly 4,000 medical staffs and around 1,000 patients after two medical staffs and one patient of the hospital had contracted COVID-19.

The plan was released by the hospital’s leaders at a working session with Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Truong Son on Wednesday morning.

Son tasked the hospital to complete the virus diagnosis prior to March 29. He also called for public support for frontline medical staffs to stand firm in the fight against the pandemic.

Last Friday, the Ministry of Health reported that two female nurses working at Ha Noi’s Bach Mai Hospital infected with the virus.

One of them of them is a 34-year old woman working at the quarantine area of hospital’s Center for Tropical Diseases while the other aged 34 works at the quarantine area of hospital’s Center for Tropical Diseases.

On March 24, the ministry confirmed a 66-year old woman from Tan Phong District of the northern province of Lai Chau contracted the virus after being treated at the hospital.

Over the past days, the hospital has taken measures to reduce the number of incoming patients, discharged patients who have recovered and disinfected all relevant areas among others.

So far, Viet Nam has reported 134 COVID-19 infection cases, of whom 118 have been confirmed since March 6.

 As many as  17 patients have recovered and left hospitals, said the health ministry./.
