Business registration capital reaches four-year peak

VGP – The number of newly-established enterprises in January hit nearly 8,300 with registered capital a sharply increasing by 76.8%, which is a record high over the past four years, the General Statistics Office (GSO) reported.

In January, 8,276 enterprises were founded with a total registered  capital of VND 267.2 trillion. These enterprises generated 84,500 jobs. 

Due to Tet holidays in January, the number of newly-founded enterprises experienced a year-on-year decline of 17.9%. However, the amount of registered capital increased by 76.8% in comparison with the same period last year. 

Average registered capital of an enterprise was VND 32.3 billion, representing a year-on-year growth of 115.3%. 

Meanwhile, 3,652 enterprises expanded operation by investing VND 234.2 trillion. In addition, 8,470 enterprises resumed operation, representing a year-on-year growth of 0.1%, bringing the number of newly-established and resumed enterprises to 16,746. 

In January, the number of temporally-suspended enterprises was 11,702, representing a year-on-year growth of 8.3%. About 5,555 enterprises were dissolved, down 54.8%. Business registration papers of 615 enterprises were reclaimed./.
