The Viet Nam Business Development Forum

A large number of experts made the assessment at the 2017 Business Development Forum which was jointly held by the Journal of Economics and Forecast under the Ministry of Planning and Investment on the occasion of its 50th founding anniversary.

Mr. Dau Anh Tuan, the Director General of the Legal Department of the Viet Nam of Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) was quoted as saying that the Government has already sent adequately strong message and issued a large number of policies, but it is necessary to narrow down the gap between policies and practices; eliminate the difference between documents and enforcement, words and action.

According to Mr. Tuan, FDI enterprises were still concerned over excessive changes of regulations, but hoped for specific actions.

The private sector is struggling with difficulties from unofficial costs, obstacles to capital access, lack of skilled manpower, poor infrastructure, administrative procedures particularly in land, tax, customs, export and import.

Deputy Director of the Central Institute for Economic Management (CIEM) Dau Anh Tuan said that business regulations and conditions were the largest barrier for private sector development and business operation; limit competitiveness; hinder creation; raise costs; and affect SMEs.

At the forum, speakers exchanged measures to extricate difficulties so that the spirit of constructive and innovative Government would be put into practice and serve businesses./.
